The Last Kiss
The Last Kiss
![]() |
I remember...
The last time, Saying, "Daddy, I love you so!"
As we held in sweet embrace
There I kissed him on the cheek
As my love was placed upon his face
That would be the last kiss, I would ever recall
I held him in such respect, he was a mountain in my eyes
Yet, I did not know that soon my world would crash and fall
I remember...
Holding my Grandma's hand
Trying to memorize her beautiful eyes
Every line upon her face
In my memories I viewed beauty and grace so fair
The last kiss before, I said, "Goodbye"
I placed upon her lips
Now I'll cherish that kiss forever
In the last one, we would ever share
I remember...
Not speaking to my Mama
For she had taken the path, some would call shame
"God forgive me, for I had judged her"
It was not my right to do this, now it is my shame to show
In the last kiss I would ever share with her
The last one to ever know
It lay upon the coolness of her face
In my tears of sorrow, upon her hands I placed a rose
I remember...
My Papa lying on the bed
As our family gathered all around
We knew his time had come
The last kiss I would ever know
I held in honors grace
As I said, "I love you, Papa"
I kissed the brow of his face
I remember...
All of these, as if they were yesterday
For a kiss can hold so much
Showing love and that we care
Let not your chances slip away
For someday it may be too late
In sharing words of kindness and love
To those we hold so dear
In the last kiss... you may ever know
The one your heart holds forever near
