Where Once Was One

 

She lies there in the hammock
Holding close… her precious child
Swaying in the evening breeze
Of sweetness… so calming and mild

There she holds her child so close
In this moment her heart has longed for
Caressing the hair so silky soft
She sings a soothing song
To the one her heart … adores

Cherishing this warm embrace
There they close their eyes together
Where dreams dance so gracefully
For this child and thankful mother

Where once was one
Now… are two
Within the evening breeze
Now becomes for both of them… sweet reality

Because somewhere … no one knows
A young girl gave birth, on an early spring day
She walked up the hospital steps
And this child she gently lay
Wiping away her tears... she turned and walked away

To young to raise this child alone
With no money, or a home
In the decision she would make... upon that fateful day
She would bless another's heart, somewhere along the way
