A lifetime of moments
Suddenly taken away
My Child, what were you thinking of?
Didn’t you know...how much you were loved?

In that second you pulled the trigger
Many lives would be forever changed
Now we gather and weep for you
As we gently whisper your name

Now we're left here all alone
With so many unasked questions
So many words left unsaid
Yet, now you lay within the satin
Through the making of your bed

There isn’t anything you could have ever done
That would have made me love you less
Because on the day… that you were born
We were so greatly blessed

No more music will I hear you sing
To be placed upon my happy heart
Through the joyful sound of your sweet voice
Now that we’re apart

No more talks for us to ever share
Or taking the time to show…
How much you meant to me, my child
You were loved… didn’t you know?

A lifetime of moments
Suddenly taken away and I cry
For I would have done anything for you
I would have traded my own life

I often look to the heavens
Falling to my knees in dark despair
Praying to God for some comfort
For this has been my ultimate nightmare

Why didn’t you just come to me?
Your thoughts, I wish I had known
You knew, I was always here for you
Now my heart is broken and I feel so lost and all alone…

There are days I stumble through the pain
Through the making of your misery
As I gaze upon the reflection
Wishing you were here… with me

You could have shared your thoughts
I would have sat and gladly listened
To all the things you left unsaid, things we've always known
Yet now I’m laying your favorite flowers
Upon your granite stone

Through the prayers that I have said
All the tears that I have cried
I find comfort in always knowing
That God is by our side

So before I close my eyes this night
I’ll dream of holding you within my arms so tight
Reminiscing in my wonderful memories…
I so sweetly shared with you
And by the grace of God above
His love will see me through
