Dear Lord, Why her?
Why does she have to suffer so?
Even though... she was not my daughter
In my heart... I've loved her... like a mother

Dear Lord, Why her?
Even though... she is not my sister
My heart aches... so greatly
For I know soon... not just I
But this world, will truly miss her

Dear Lord, Why her?
I would gladly take her pain
Just to see her beautiful smile
To hold her hand and comfort her
Even if it be... only for a little while

To hear her laugh and giggle
Like she has done so many times
It seems like it was just yesterday
When everything was fine

I want to look upon her face
And say
"I love you, so very much"
Memorizing every freckle and line
As upon her cheek... I place a kiss
And a soothing touch

Dear Lord, Why her?
Is Heaven in need of another angel?
Does Your garden need another rose?
Please fill my heart with comfort, Lord
I need it more than ever... this, You know

I may not always understand, Dear Lord
Why things go the way they do
But I will keep my faith so near
Your love forever true

When the time comes...
The day You decide to call my name
Please tell her, to wait patiently at the gates
I know... for me
She would humbly ask the same
