What Will I Do?
What Will I Do? ~*~ (New - Graduation)
Looking at the cap and gown
Hanging on the wall
Tears come to my eyes…
and I think to myself,
“After sharing these last
eighteen wonderful years with you…
When I turn around and find you gone…
what will I do?”
Will I still find the words…
Of my often… inspiration and joy?
Without you here with me…
Will I cry… will I worry continuously?
My life… my heart… my every breath… and every second
Has been dedicated to loving and teaching you.
Now tell me… what will I do?
You my child… have been my blessed reminder
In my darkest hours when I could not see
That… God is always standing near
Watching over… you and me
You have overflowed my life…
With endless moments of joy and love,
Sometimes even my eyes with tears.
And for both, “I thank you”
Yet, What will I do?
Today, recalling our moments shared …
I spread the pictures across the floor.
Memories collage… looking like a magnificent quilt
The most beautiful… I’ve ever seen
Another chapter of our lives,
that God has helped us write.
Eighteen wonderful years… too soon to be gone!
Dear Lord, Help us both to carry on…
Day by day… I’ll pray
Watch over this young man, I cherish so.
Take his hand… when I cannot…
And guide him safely on his way
